Spotlight Community PartnerWe are excited to announce the Spotlight Community Partner Initiative, offering a NATS Boston Community Partner meaningful support over the course of a two-year period.
The 2020-2022 Spotlight Community Partnership highlights a collaboration between NATS Boston and Hamilton-Garrett Music and Arts Academy (HGMAA). |
Led by Executive Director Gerami Groover-Flores, the Hamilton-Garrett Music and Arts Academy is a non-profit after-school program affiliated with the Historic Charles Street A.M.E Church in Roxbury, MA. HGMAA is committed to passing on the rich legacy of Black music, building community through youth development and cultural pride, and challenging inner-city youth to see themselves, not merely as consumers of culture, but as positive producers of culture and the arts. HGMAA utilizes traditional and contemporary music from the African-American and African diaspora in all their curricula to powerfully reinforce identity among their students. HGMAA offers private lesson instruction, music history, choral studies, performance ensembles, and opportunities for student recitals and performances. Visit HGMAA's website to learn more about their organizational mission and offerings.
Since engaging in the Table for More series in August 2020, our board has spent time reckoning with the state of diversity, access, equity, and inclusion in the NATS Boston community. There is no doubt that we have much work to do to foster a diverse community imbued with the spirit of belonging. We are inspired to take action and to make meaningful change. NATS Boston is committed to uplifting the voices of Black leaders in our community making a profound impact in music and voice education. We encourage you to support HGMAA by familiarizing yourself with their mission, attending their concerts, and donating to the NATS Boston Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Campaign.

HGMAA Matching Campaign
NATS Boston is pleased to announce the Hamilton-Garrett Music and Arts Academy Matching Campaign, a fundraiser in support of HGMAA as the chapter's Spotlight Community Partner.
In advance of HGMAA’s “Give Love: Hamilton-Garrett’s Virtual Winter Fundraising Concert” on Sunday, December 6th at 6 pm, we are holding a chapter-wide matching campaign. The NATS Boston Chapter will match all member donations, dollar-for-dollar, up to $2,500.
Therefore, we have set a total chapter fundraising goal of $5,000 for HGMAA student scholarships and curricular expenses. By contributing, you can make a tangible difference in the lives of young musicians.
$5,000 provides 10 HGMAA students with paid tuition for a full academic year.
In light of our commitment to increasing organizational access, we have eliminated NATS Boston Chapter dues this year. In lieu of chapter dues, we sincerely hope you will join us in donating to support HGMAA. Please use the donate button below so we can match our member donations.
