Our first Student Auditions event of the year will be the Classical Student Auditions, held on Saturday, October 21st at Boston Conservatory, with Stephen Smith as the guest clinician. We are excited to partner with Boston Conservatory Chair of Voice Isai Jess Muñoz and the new Boston Conservatory SNATS Chapter on creating a welcoming space for our students, the first in-person Student Auditions since March 2020.
Singers in the Classical category will be a feeder to NATS New England Regional Student Auditions. This is a beta-test to see if this model works for potentially all categories in 2024. This will be our first-ever Regional Student Auditions progressing event, with the Top 5 finalists from each category advancing to New England Regional Student Auditions, except for the Adult Avocational categories. A student can participate in the in-person NATS Boston Chapter Classical Student Auditions, or wait for the online New England Regional auditions.
Please note: if a student participates in the in-person NATS Boston Chapter Classical Student Auditions and is chosen as a finalist, they will advance to, and can participate in, NATS New England Regional Student Auditions. However, if a student participates in the in-person NATS Boston Chapter Classical Student Auditions and is not selected as a finalist, they cannot participate in NATS New England Regional Student Auditions.
In the event that there are fewer than 5 participants in a category, all participants in the category will advance to New England Regional Student Auditions. In addition to advancing to the New England Regional Student Auditions, the Top 5 finalists in each category will have the opportunity to participate in the Finalist Concert in the spring of 2024. The Top 3 finalists in each division will be eligible to receive a monetary prize if they receive a score of 90 or above, with the 2 additional finalists receiving honorable mentions.
House pianists will be provided by NATS Boston for all divisions. Please note: it is mandatory to be accompanied by the house pianists for the Classical Student Auditions.
The schedule for Classical Student Auditions and other details will be shared soon!
