TEACHER INFORMATION
ACCOMPANIST INFORMATION
- All Teachers who sponsor students to participate in Student Auditions MUST be available adjudicate live at BU on February 10, 2018.
- Teachers cannot judge in Divisions in which they have students participating.
- Failure to appear for assignments at Auditions without having provided a substitute will result in the disqualification of a teacher’s students.
- Please note: personal requests regarding scheduling will be heard and considered on an individual basis, but due to the complicated scheduling process, requests may or may not be granted.
- Each sponsoring teacher must be a member-in-good-standing of both NATS and the Boston Chapter of NATS. Renewal of BOTH memberships is available online at www.nats.org
- Teachers may enter only their own students. If a student has been studying with a sponsoring teacher for less than eight months, acknowledgment must be made of the former NATS teacher both on the application and in any public announcements, as stated in the NATS Code of Ethics.
- Teachers or students/parents must submit registration online for all students via the NATS-Boston web site.
- Teachers or students/parents will complete the Audition Adjudication Form to bring to the Auditions. Singers must bring four copies of the form to the Auditions. Please do not use alternate versions of this form from prior years as the forms change from year to year.
- If student(s) are entered but the teacher is unable to attend, a substitute must be provided by the teacher. Substitute information must be sent to the Auditions Chair. Substitutes must be able to perform the same responsibilities as teachers, including adjudicating. Substitutes may not sponsor their own students.
- Teachers may not accompany their own students. Accompanists must be listed when registering. Students will not be considered fully registered until an accompanist is listed.
- Pianists must play from original/legal copies of all music. Pianists MAY NOT use photocopies to play from – even if original documents are at the Auditions.
- Due to the tight schedule on the day of auditions, teachers may not receive comment sheets for their students on the day of the event. Comment sheets will be mailed to sponsoring teachers within a month of the Auditions.
- No pianists will be provided for any rounds. Students must hire their own accompanists for the Preliminary, Semi-Final & Final Rounds.
ACCOMPANIST INFORMATION
- Accompanists may play for no more than ten division entries (if you are playing for a student who is in two divisions - it counts as 2 entries) per day.
- Financial arrangements will be made between Singers and/or Teachers and Pianists. NATS-Boston will assume no responsibility for unmet financial obligations made with either Singers or their Teachers. Although the concert chair may assist in locating an accompanist upon request, this is at their discretion and not a requirement of their role.
- Pianists must play from original/legal copies of all music. Pianists MAY NOT use photocopies to play from – even if original documents are present at the Auditions.

- Arrangements for a page-turner should be made with the singer or sponsoring teacher.
